  Sommario
  L’articolo comincia con una presentazione delle norme canoniche
  sia storiche sia vigenti sulla tutela del segreto. Una
  particolare attenzione viene attribuita alla storia del «Segreto
  del Sant’Uffizio» e al «Segreto pontificio». In seguito l’articolo
  presenta le norme che richiedono che le autorità ecclesiastiche
  agiscano in modo trasparente. Infine si discute la domanda sui
  possibili conflitti fra le norme che tutelano il segreto e quelle e
  cercano di promuovere la trasparenza.

  Summary
  Transparency and confidentiality in canon law
  The article starts with a presentation of – both historical and
  current – canonical norms for the protection of confidentiality.
  Special attention is given to the history of the «Secret of the
  Holy Office» and to the «Pontifical Secret». Then the article
  presents the norms which require that Church authorities act in
  a transparent way. Finally it discusses the question of possible
  conflicts between the norms which protect confidentiality and
  those which try to promote transparency.
